YSM Web Template

The Yale Office of the Secretary, the Office of the University Printer, Information Technology Services-Web Services (ITS-WS), and Yale School of Medicine's Web Planning Group (YSM) have made a collaborative effort to redesign the YSM Web site, creating a clearer and more consistent user experience for online visitors to the Yale School of Medicine. A central component of this effort is the creation of a web template system for the School of Medicine. The design of the template was guided by the blue site at www.yale.edu, thereby helping to visually position YSM as a member of the Yale community. The design was built to be flexible and adaptable for the different kinds of organizations within the School of Medicine.

The next phase: Web Content Management

The Web Planning Group now has more entities within the School who need updated websites than current production capacity permits. To address this capacity issue, in October 2007 the Web Planning Group collaborated with (ITS) to evaluate and select a Web Content Management (WCM) system for the YSM community.

The Group identified ease-of-use for content editors and contributors as the most critical requirement because of the sheer number of diverse users at YSM who will be creating and editing content through the WCM system. After several months of intense product reviews, YSM selected SDL Tridion as our new WCM system. Implementation began in March 2008 and the first site is planned to be built within the system by July.

Please note, only organizations working through or approved by YSM-IPC and ITS-WS are permitted to use the YSM templates.
