External Web Content

Google maps, social media, and PubMed listing feeds are among the Tridion components that can make your site more engaging and interactive for visitors.

In addition to including standard text directions, you can add Google maps to your page. Google maps have been integrated with the Faculty Profile System to enable YSM websites to easily create maps using data stored in the faculty profile system.

Social Media

Given YSM's guidelines regarding interactions with patients, there are limited options for adding social media "features" to your site. In addition to a Twitter feed, the Web Group can add linked buttons to your site that direct users to your social media sites.

Pubmed 2

PubMed Publications Feed

Some organizations and labs will want to list recent publications. Tridion has a PubMed component that automatically updates publications onto your page by pulling in information from PubMed. Using the PubMed component eliminates the hassle of having to continuously update your publications page and writing citations.

RSS Feeds 2

RSS Feeds

Inserting a RSS Feed on your page is a simple solution for adding a list of automatically updated news.

nci 2

National Cancer Institute PDQ Database Integration

The school has built an integration with the National Cancer Institute's PDQ database, a comprehensive database with summaries of thousands of cancer topics. Data files from NCI's database are downloaded and deployed to the School of Medicine's servers on a nightly basis, ensuring its websites have the most up-to-date NCI content.
