Buttons

The Link,Link: Multimeda, and MyChart Link schemas can be used to create buttons, an easy and quick way to create a prominent link on your page. The button can either be a component link, a multimedia link, or a standard URL link.

Link to a webpage

Instructions

To create a button for a link to a URL or component:

  1. Create a New Component in your Building Blocks folder and select "Link" from the schema drop-down menu.
    • Link Title:This field represents the text that will appear in your button. Enter short text that quickly grabs visitors' attention.
    • Componentlink: Use this field if you are linking to a page within your own publication. Select the yellow folder with the magnifying glass and choose the component that is inserted on the published page to link to.
    • URL for the link: Use this field if you are linking to a page outside of your publication. Click the the hyperlink button to the right and enter the URL in the "URL" field.
    • Image (used with the Button Template): Click the yellow folder with the magnifying glass to select an image in your Building Blocks folder. This image is placed inside the button box. Without inserting an image, this space will be left blank. 
    • Save & Close.
  2. Open the Root folder of your publication and the page you want to insert a button. In the component presentations tab, insert your button and select "Button (Right Column)" from the template drop-down menu.
  3. Save & Close the page, then publish. 

Link to download a file

Instructions

A Button using the Link: Multimedia schema will create a button which, when clicked by a visitor, downloads a file to their computer. To create a button for a download link to a multimedia item:

  1. Create a New Component in your Building Blocks folder and select Link: Multimediafrom the schema drop-down menu.
    • Link Title: This field represents the text that will appear in your button. Enter short text that quickly grabs visitors' attention. The text should make it clear that clicking the button will download a file to the user's computer.
    • Multimedia link: Select the browse button and choose the multimedia component that you wish to link to
    • Image (used with the Button Template): Click the browse button to select an image in your Building Blocks folder. This image is placed inside the button box. Without inserting an image, this space will be left blank. 
    • Save & Close.
  2. Open the Root folder of your publication and the page you want to insert a button. In the component presentations tab, insert your button and select "Button (Right Column)" from the template drop-down menu.
  3. Save & Close the page, then publish.

Link to MyChart

Instructions

This is a right column button you can place on your website which links to the MyChart login page. This is primarily designed for patient care-focused sites.

  1. Open the page in the Root folder where you'd like to add the MyChart button.
  2. Click the Component Presentations tab.
  3. Click Insert.
  4. Open Building Blocks > Content. You will find a component called "MyChart Button Link" (this component already exists in every Tridion publication).
  5. From the Component Template dropdown menu, select MyChart Button (Right Column)
  6. Click Insert.
  7. Click the Home tab, then Save and Close the page.
  8. Publish the page.
