Biographical Info

John Colberg, M.D., Associate Professor of Urology, earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery and his residency in urology at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He is Board Certified in Urology and has been named as a top doctor in New York Magazine’s Top Doctor issue. He is committed to providing dedicated care for patients with urologic cancers, including those with kidney cancer, testicular cancer, prostate cancer, penile cancer, and bladder cancer. Dr. Colberg specializes in bladder reconstruction and bladder substitutions for patients affected by bladder cancer. His expertise includes the latest minimally invasive procedures, such as robotic surgery, so that patients can experience faster post-surgical recovery times and the most advanced surgical care available.

Working collaboratively with other top cancer-care specialists from Yale and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Dr. Colberg is a member of the tumor board that meets weekly to discuss new and complex cases.

Dr. Colberg understands that cancer can be a frightening diagnosis and that each patient has different needs along the journey through treatment. Beyond treating the condition, he believes in providing the most personalized care possible. Dr. Colberg’s patient-focused approach, in part, means offering individualized attention at every visit, returning phone calls as quickly as possible, and always taking the time to answer questions fully while addressing patient and family concerns.
