Please welcome our first class of Medical Physics Residents. Ramin Abolfath and Hassan Abbas will be starting here on July 1st and July 16th respectively.
Ramin Abolfath received his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Sharif University of Technology, Iran concluding at Indiana University, Bloomington in 1997. He has been a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at University of Oklahoma and University of Texas at Austin from 1999 to 2004. He has served as an Assistant Instructor at Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX from 2007 to 2009. He has published several papers on radiation biological chemistry of DNA damage induced by OH radicals and is now with us at YNHH preparing for clinical training as a Medical Physics Resident.
Hassan Abbas received his Ph.D. in Physics from University of Albany, State University of New York in 2012. His Ph.D. dissertation was on the modeling of megavoltage and low energy focused x-ray beams using Monte Carlo simulations. He has presented four abstracts at AAPM meetings. He passed the American Board of Radiology Part I in 2010 and is now with us at YNHH preparing for clinical training as a Medical Physics Resident.
Both will be sharing office space in NP Smilow LL-411 between the accelerators D and E.
