Gynecologic Cancer Program

Co-Directors: Susan Higgins, MD and Shari Damast, MD

The Yale Gynecologic Cancer Program group has significant experience and expertise in the management of gynecologic malignancies of all types. External beam radiotherapy, IMRT, and treatment strategies combining external beam, brachytherapy (both interstitial and intracavitary) in addition to the incorporation of chemotherapy are available. Brachytherapy is often an essential part of the multidisciplinary approach to patient care in the department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale. The department has a long history of developing and utilizing various brachytherapy procedures for gynecologic malignancies. Patients are evaluated in a multidisciplinary fashion in conjunction with physicians from Gynecologic oncology. Individualized treatment programs are recommended after consultation with both gynecologic oncology and radiation oncology services.
