The Climate Working Group evaluates issues that affect the professional and social environment for women who are faculty at YSM. Committee goals:
- Increase transparency in search and retention committees
- Faculty Searches: The goal of SWIM regarding faculty searches is to increase visibility about search committee composition and to raise awareness in the community about ongoing searches. Listed below are ongoing faculty searches
- Retention activities: YSM is committed to maintaining a diverse faculty. A Retention Oversight Committee has been formed to ensure that decisions regarding retention of faculty were made fairly, especially with regard to women and minorities.
- Include qualified women on every search committee
- Add questions in search procedures evaluating the applicant’s history of maintaining and encouraging diversity in previous positions
- Increase number and visibility of qualified women in chair positions and in endowed chairs
