Biography

Kimberly A. Davis is a Professor of Surgery and the Vice Chairman for Clinical Affairs at the Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery. She is the Chief of the Section of General Surgery, Trauma, and Surgical Critical Care at Yale, as well as the Trauma Medical Director for Yale New Haven Hospital, an American College of Surgeons verified and Connecticut Department of Health designated Level One Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients. She is the Surgical Director of Quality and Performance Improvement at YNHH and just stepped down as the Surgeon Champion for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP). After earning a BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale, she attended Albany Medical College and received her surgical training in the Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital program. Following a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care, she spent eight years on the faculty at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois, prior to returning to Yale in 2006. She serves as the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Region I Chief, and as a member of the Board of Governors. She is the immediate Past President of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. For the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, she serves as a Manager at Large on their Board of Managers and the Chairman of the Acute Care Surgery Committee. She has published extensively in the medical literature, with over 100 peer reviewed publications. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Trauma, Injury and Infection, and the Journal of Burn Care and Rehabilitation, and as an ad hoc reviewer for 8 other critical care and surgical journals. Dr. Davis received her MBA in Healthcare Leadership from the Yale School of Management in May of 2012. Dr. Davis is board certified in surgery and surgical critical care. Her research interests are in the fields of performance improvement and quality, inflammation and sepsis, and trauma resuscitation.
