At Yale Thoracic Surgery, our surgeons offer expertise in dealing with a condition known as hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. Hyperhidrosis is a unique condition in which the nervous system stimulates the sweat glands in certain parts of your body to be overactive. Patients with hyperhidrosis seeking medical attention usually present with excessive sweating and flushing in the face, armpits, or hands. Treatment of this condition is with a bilateral thoracoscopic approach to divide the nerves that lead to the overactive sweat glands. The surgical option, however, usually follows a full course of medical therapy.
It is very important that our surgeons review your entire case to determine the best treatment options.
The thoracic surgery practice encompasses all aspects of your thoracic health including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. As faculty of the Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery, our surgeons are continually redefining standards of care through their comprehensive skill, innovative procedures, ongoing research, and the application of evidence-based medicine.
Our surgeons are highly skilled at performing even the most advanced surgical techniques for both common and complex conditions. At Yale Thoracic Surgery, we know that the surgical process can feel intimidating. Our surgeons will walk you through the process, step by step, so that you understand the procedure and feel comfortable with your treatment options.
