Thyroid Cancer

Thyroid cancer affects the thyroid, which is a butterfly-shaped gland of the endocrine system located in front of the throat and just below the larynx (voice box). The different glands of the endocrine system are in charge of producing hormones to regulate many of the body’s functions. The thyroid is responsible for controlling how quickly the body converts food into energy (metabolic function) and makes proteins. It also regulates the body’s sensitivity to other hormones.
