Yale Cardiac Surgery Simulation Labs

Dr. Bonde

Welcome Message

I would like to welcome you to the Cardiac Surgery Simulation Lab. When I was training as a surgeon, the adage was: “ See one, do one, teach one”. However, patient care, quality and safety are paramount to all of us in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Some traditional teaching methods need to be updated to adapt to the changing healthcare environment and promote improved clinical outcomes. Additional constraints placed by shrinking duty hours means that we need to leverage available technology to enrich the training experience of our medical students, residents, and fellows. Simulated training has proven beneficial in aviation and other areas where safety is critical. As the Associate Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Program, I would like to invite medical students, residents, and cardiac surgery fellows to utilize the Cardiac Surgery Simulation Lab resources to refine and perfect their skills in a relaxed and stimulating environment.

Cardiac Surgery Simulation Lab

The Yale Cardiac Surgery Simulation Lab provides an environment where complex cardiac surgery can be learned, practiced, and performed in a simulated environment. This allows our medical students, surgical residents, and cardiac surgery fellows to hone their skills in a more relaxed environment prior to clinical practice.
