Biography

Hongwei Wang went to college in Tsinghua Unversity at Beijing, China. After earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology in 1996, he continued his Ph.D. training in the same department of Tsinghua. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2001 and came to the States to pursue his postdoctoral training at Lawerence Berkeley National Laboratory. He joined Yale faculty in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in 2009.
Hongwei Wang's research focuses on elucidating the structure of macromolecular assemblies using cryo-electron microscopy. In the past, he has revealed the structural basis of microtubule dynamic instability and it roles in cell division. He is now interested in macromolecular machinery of RNA metabolism and cytoskeleton dynamics.
