Class of 1989: 25th Reunion

A small but enthusiastic gathering of eight members of the Class of 1989 met in New Haven for our 25th reunion. Here is the scoop on everyone there. Steve Knight and Lisa Quattrocki Knight live in the Boston area and have three absolutely gorgeous and charming daughters, all of whom must give Steve chest pain on a regular basis. Steve is president and managing partner at Fidelity Biosciences, a private equity group within Fidelity that invests in biotech. Lisa is doing research at McLean Hospital and holds a patent for drug-enhanced neural feedback. Sanjoy Sundaresan is a neurosurgeon in Wichita Falls, Tex. He has a son who is a nationally renowned high school debater and a daughter who is in middle school. Alex Flather-Morgan Cist lives in Boston with her husband, David, and two daughters. Their older daughter is a dancer, and the younger one is a book-lover. Alex is a pulmonologist and clinical ethicist at Massachusetts General Hospital and in her spare time enjoys participating in sprint triathlons. Don Chin is an interventional radiologist in Redding, Calif. He and his wife, Mika, have four children. Their son graduated from Colorado College this spring and will be working as a paralegal in Denver. They have a daughter who will be a sophomore at UC San Diego, and they have two younger daughters still in the nest. After many years as a hepatologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Chinwe Ukomadu recently joined Novartis. He is a senior translational medicine specialist there and will be doing some traveling to China for his hepatology research. His wife, Emily Oken, is a primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she pursues her interest in medical care for women before, during, and after pregnancy. They have a son and a daughter who are both amazing soccer players and quite brilliant and funny. Elan Louis is a professor of both neurology and epidemiology at Columbia. He and his wife, Venita Sehgal, YSM ’90, a nephrologist at Mt. Sinai, have three boys who keep them busy. Elan was too humble to mention this, but I know that he is an award-winning artist whose work has been featured in The New York Times. He has recently branched out into mixed media and collage, and had a showing at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild in Larchmont, N.Y., this month. As for me, Jennifer Hirsh, I did a four-year stint in academic medicine at Washington University in St. Louis and then moved to New Jersey, where I have been with Princeton Anesthesia Services for the past 17 years. My husband, Don, is an associate professor of chemistry at The College of New Jersey. Our older daughter will be starting med school this fall, and our younger daughter will be a junior at Princeton, majoring in classics. We hope to see all of you at our 30th!

—Jennifer Hirsh
