Biography
Dr. Colson, Associate Professor of Pediatrics joined the faculty at the Yale School of Medicine 14 years ago. She has focused her career on newborn care, qualitative research and medical education. Her leadership roles at Yale School of medicine include, the Clerkship Director in Pediatrics, the Director of the Curriculum of the Clerkships and Director of the Longitudinal Clinical Experience component of the new curriculum. As a Macy Foundation Faculty Scholar, Dr. Colson is creating a longitudinal experience for students early in their medical education that will include continuity with patients, with mentors and with students from other healthcare professions. She is known at the national level for her scholarship in qualitative research and this past year developed the first qualitative research special interest group at the Pediatric Academic Societies. At Yale and beyond she mentors faculty and students interested in medical education research, qualitative and mixed methods research methods. Dr.Colson has published original clinical research articles and has several ongoing projects focused on medical eduation. She has served as visiting professor and has been invited to present regularly at regional and national professional meetings.
