Robin Masheb PhD

Biographical Info

Robin Masheb, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine and is on the medical staff of Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is a clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology with expertise in the design and implementation of empirically supported behavioral and cognitive-behavioral treatments for health behavior change and psychiatric illnesses. Dr. Masheb has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has served as PI and investigator on numerous National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants focusing on obesity, eating disorders, binge eating disorder, eating behavior and nutrition. Her current R21 is a randomized controlled trial designed to investigate a novel nutritional intervention (lowering energy density) on outcomes related to obesity. She is also co-investigator on two R01 grants investigating the dissemination of treatment for obesity and binge eating into primary care settings, and establishing best-practices for a stepped-care model of treating obesity and binge eating disorder. Dr. Masheb has reviewed grant applications for the NIH, the Canadian Institutes of Health, and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Since 2001, she has been Associate Director for the Program for Obesity, Weight, and Eating Research (P.O.W.E.R.) at Yale. In addition to her role as an investigator in this program, she supervises fellows in the assessment and treatment of obesity and eating disorders. From 2008-2012 she chaired a seminar series for the Yale Predoctoral Internship Training Program in Clinical and Community Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry. In 2009 she received American Psychological Association (APA) Fellow Status for recognition of distinguished and sustained contributions to psychology, and served as Division 38 (health psychology) scientific Program Chair for the 117th annual convention of the APA. Dr. Masheb also holds an appointment at the Yale Divinity School where she teaches “Psychopathology and Pastoral Care.”
