Research Interests:
Broadly, I am interested in the pharmacogenetics influencing addictive behaviors. I have two specific research interests. First, I am focused on clarifying the relationship between nicotine and cognition using acetylcholine and dopamine system genetic polymorphisms. Recently my research group was awarded an NIDA R03 grant to study genetic moderators of IV nicotine response. In addition, I am interested in the genetic etiology of behaviors associated with maladaptive alcohol consumption. I am specifically interested in how serotonin gene polymorphisms and life experiences together regulate heavy drinking.
