Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry
Dr. Tampi is an Associate Professor (Tenure Track) of Psychiatry at the University of Texas, San Antonio and an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Most recently, he was the Director of Behavioral Health Services at Masonicare in Wallingford, CT. He trained in Psychiatry at the University of Leeds in England and the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. During his residency training in England, he also attained a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry from the University in Leeds. He completed his Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT. Dr. Tampi was a recipient of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, 2013-Clinician of the Year Award. He is also a recipient of the Geriatric Academic Career Award (GACA) instituted by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). He is the President Elect of the International Medical Graduates (IMG) Caucus of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Tampi also received three ‘Outstanding Teaching Attending Award’ and the ‘Chairman’s Award’ for outstanding teaching, research, and clinical work from the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. His research interests are the treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and behavioral disturbances in dementia and late life psychiatric disorders. He has been a principal investigator and a sub-investigator on various clinical-trails at Yale University School of Medicine. He has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed national and international journals on various topics in geriatric psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Tampi is a chief editor for three books in psychiatry. Dr. Tampi serves on the editorial board of various peer reviewed national and international journals in psychiatry and is a reviewer for over 20 journals including the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, and the American Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementias.
