Biography

Role in Program:
Administrative associate

Professional Interests: I am a champion of civil, human and animal rights, and will continue to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves as often as I can. I believe in and work for peace and social justice each and every day. I am a Justice of the Peace and have served on the Environmental Use and Climate Change Commission in Hamden, CT. I have been actively involved in campaigns regarding local and national elections, including Get Out The Vote (GOTV), Rock The Vote and many events surrounding registering people to vote.

Personal Interests: I am a conservationist, a naturalist, a musician and music lover. My husband and I own a record store in Hamden, Replay Records, as well as the record label, Three Cool Cats. I personally think that without music, life would be a mistake (my favorite Nietzsche quote). I am a Red Cross disaster relief worker, and have responded to a number of emergencies around the tri-state area, including September 11th, 2001. I find solitude in nature and in the kindness of my family, friends and co-workers. I am also heavily involved with many local land trusts throughout Connecticut, including Hamden, Guilford and Madison, as well as the Sleeping Giant Park Association and the Connecticut Forest and Park Association (CFPA). I am an active member of the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and the SPLC, to name a few.

My lived experience with chronic illness has allowed me to contribute to a PCORI grant as a member of the research team, as well as allowed me to assist friends with navigating health care in general. I am pleased to be able to turn my experience into wisdom and knowledge for others dealing with newly diagnosed chronic illness problems.
