Kali Denise Cyrus MPH

Biographical Info

Kali Cyrus was born and raised in West Palm Beach Florida. She ventured to the west coast for college, where she received her B.A. from Stanford University as a psychology major and human biology minor in 2006. She then began coursework for her MPH in health policy and management at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Her studies on medical education informed her training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where she spent 4 years learning how to stay warm. During this time, Kali also became deeply affected by the witnessed disconnect in communication between physicians and patients from marginalized communities. She developed a long-term goal of working in academia to bridge these gaps on a large scale educational level. To this end, her scholarly research projects have examined physician communication patterns and medical students’ desire to work with the underserved. Her interests within the field of psychiatry are varied, they include forensic, community, and social psychiatry. Despite whichever field is chosen, she looks forward to working with LGBTQ, African Americans in higher education, and medical student populations.
