Biographical Info

Dr. Schechter received his BA in Psychology from The University of Pennsylvania and an MD from Stony Brook University. He went on to complete his Internship and Residency at The Yale University School of Medicine in 1985. Following faculty appointments in the medical school as Instructor and Assistant Professor, he went on to become the Director of Outpatient Services at the Stamford Hospital. Dr. Schechter is board certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry and has been in full time private practice since 1991. He is Chair of The Stamford Hospital Ethics Committee and has been appointed by the Governor to serve on the Connecticut Psychiatric Security Review Board. Dr. Schechter is a Fellow of The American Psychiatric Association and a faculty member of The Yale Law and Psychiatry Program.
