Department Pilots Mentorship Program For Junior Faculty

05/29/2012: Yale's Department of Psychiatry is piloting a new mentorship program to provide targeted support for junior faculty members to help them navigate the promotion process, take advantage of as many career development opportunities as possible and ultimately, to make their strongest case for advancement.

Funding Will Further Study of Bipolar Disorder in Adolescence

04/10/2012: The International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF) will fund a project exploring the development of bipolar disorder in adolescence led by Hilary Blumberg, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, in the Child Study Center and of diagnostic radiology. Blumberg is the director of the Mood Disorders Research Program at Yale.
Esperanza Diaz Recognized as Outstanding Mentor of Psychiatric Trainees

04/09/2012: Esperanza Diaz, MD, associate professor of psychiatry at Yale, will receive the inaugural Area 1 American Psychiatric Association Member-in-Training Mentor Award. Dr. Diaz is medical director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center's Hispanic Clinic and the Connecticut Latino Behavioral Health System, and is an associate program director of the Yale School of Medicine's Psychiatry Residency Program.
Genetic Mutations at Conception Linked to Many Cases of Autism

04/02/2012: The Psychology Section of the Yale Department of Psychiatry is pleased to announce the twenty-one new Fellows who will join its psychology pre-doctoral internship program in July. The group, who will become the Section's Class of 2013, was determined by a national Match process and announced on Friday, February 24th. This year, a record 359 individuals submitted applications to train at Yale.
Delphin-Rittmon Appointed Senior Advisor in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

03/26/2012: Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, has accepted a political appointment in the Administration of President Barack Obama as Senior Advisor to the Administrator in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation. SAMHSA is an Agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

This prestigious honor is based on Dr. Zonana's decades of demonstrated leadership and outstanding achievements in the field of forensic psychiatry.
Krystal to Speak on Alcoholism Research at APA
02/27/2012: John H. Krystal, MD, chair of the Yale Department of Psychiatry, will present the Frontiers of Science Lecture titled "Glutamate, Dopamine, and Alcoholism: From Vulnerability to Treatment" as part of a special NIAAA-organized track at the 2012 Annual Meeting of the American Psychiatric Association.
