In Memoriam: Marjorie Tapscott Dreyfus, MSW

1932-2012

Of Cross River NY and Rockville MD died on July 25, 2012 after a long illness. Marjorie was born June 27, 1932 in New Castle, Indiana. Upon graduating from Purdue University in 1954, Marjorie moved with her then husband Russell Dreyfus, to New Haven, Connecticut and ultimately to Cross River, New York where she resided for almost fifty years. She received her Master in Social Work from the University of Connecticut in 1974, establishing a private practice for over 30 years and serving as a Clinical Instructor (1974-1978) and Assistant Clinical Professor in Social Work (1978-2007) at the Yale School of Medicine. She took tremendous pride in her work as a therapist and educator and deeply enjoyed her four grandchildren. She also greatly appreciated birds, good food, music and art. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer, Emily, her son-in-law Neal Walters and four grandchildren – Corinne, Max, Elena and Sam, two sisters, Martha Tapscott and Ruth Hudson, and a host of other friends and relatives. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
