February 24, 2015

The American College of Psychiatrists has announced the recipients of its 2015 awards, which were presented at the organization’s annual meeting on February 21, 2015. The awards recognize those mental health professionals responsible for advancing psychiatry through their service, research, clinical work, and educational activities.

Godfrey Pearlson, MD, professor of psychiatry and of neurobiology at Yale School of Medicine, received the College’s Stanley Dean Research Award. The award honors an individual who has had a major impact on the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenic disorders.

In addition to his Yale appointments, Pearlson is the founding director of the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center at the Institute of Living. For over 30 years, he has dedicated his career to improving knowledge about schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric disorders through neuroimaging research, with a focus on identifying the biological signatures of schizophrenia and exploring the genes underlying this disorder.
