On February 21st the results of a national Match were announced for psychology doctoral internships. Through this process the Psychology Section of the Department of Psychiatry selected its incoming class of 17 Fellows who will spend a year training at Yale from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. These trainees were selected from among 261 applicants.
"We had a very strong group of applicants this year from graduate programs across the nation," said Dr. Michael Hoge, Director of Clinical Training in Psychology. "The interests and talents of the incoming fellows are a great match for our diverse clinical training program."
Dr. Rajita Sinha, Chief of Psychology for the Department, commented that, "Our training program has grown stronger each year and this has been recognized by psychology graduate schools and their students who are seeking internships."
Psychology Fellows apply to one of ten training rotations, which are based at the Connecticut Mental Health Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the Yale Stress Center. Students typically complete this clinically oriented internship as the final year of a five-year program of graduate study, which leads to a Ph.D. or Psy.D.
