On February 22nd the results of a national Match were announced for psychology pre-doctoral internships. Through this process the Psychology Section of the Department of Psychiatry selected its incoming class of 18 Fellows who will spend a year in training at Yale from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. These trainees were selected from a record number of 373 applicants.
“We are delighted with the strong interest in our program and the outcome of the match,” said Dr. Michael Hoge, Director of Clinical Training in Psychology. “We recruited many of the best applicants in the country.”
Dr. Rajita Sinha, Chief of Psychology for the Department, commented that, “Our faculty offer a nationally recognized training program that grows stronger each year and draws students who show great promise for their potential influence on the field.”
Psychology Fellows apply to one of a dozen training rotations, which are based at the Connecticut Mental Health Center, Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the Yale Stress Center. Students typically complete this clinically oriented internship as the final year of a five-year program of graduate study, which leads to a Ph.D. or Psy.D.
