"Talk to CMHC" technology launches at Connecticut Mental Health Center

February 29, 2016

Embracing the power of technology to build community wellbeing, Connecticut Mental Health Center has launched a new reporting tool, “Talk to CMHC,” powered by the New Haven-based company SeeClickFix.

Talk to CMHC enables anyone—staff, clients, visitors, and community partners—to report issues and ideas to the Center’s administration using free SeeClickFix mobile app and web tools. Users are invited to send feedback using pictures, videos, and written text; their comments will be forwarded to key staff members. Behind the scenes, Talk to CMHC provides CMHC officials with a centralized issue management system to help manage issues from creation to resolution.

Connecticut Mental Health Center, a longstanding partnership between the Yale University Department of Psychiatry and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, serves over 5,000 people annually who struggle with mental health and addictions problems.

The Talk to CMHC mobile app is available for download on Android and iPhone. In addition, users will find Talk to CMHC online at CMHC’s State and Yale web pages, and through seeclickfix.com.

“We are excited to have this powerful new tool to help us become fully responsive to people’s observations about how we can improve,” said Michael J. Sernyak, MD, CEO of Connecticut Mental Health Center. “As a public mental health center, CMHC is a complex place doing extraordinary work. We look forward to engaging all members of our community in this opportunity to use technology invented right here in New Haven to make ourselves better.”

We hope people will use Talk to CMHC to send us feedback about everything from our physical environment to our clinical programs and services.

“We welcome SeeClickFix as a partner and are proud to be the first health care organization to use its technology,” said Robert Cole, Chief Operating Officer of Connecticut Mental Health Center. “We hope people will use Talk to CMHC to send us feedback about everything from our physical environment to our clinical programs and services.”

Speaking with CMHC staff at a gathering to celebrate the launch of the new tool and demonstrate its features, SeeClickFix founder and CEO Ben Berkowitz said the company sees tremendous opportunity to adapt its technology for use in specific facilities and organizations. It chose CMHC as a frontrunner in this effort because CMHC already plays an important role in the local community where SeeClickFix is based. “Your success in building a better organization returns value to our network,” said Berkowitz, “and helps make this community stronger.”

SeeClickFix was founded in 2008 to empower citizens with tools to publicly document quality of life issues in their neighborhoods. Today, SeeClickFix has official partnerships with hundreds of cities, engaging hundreds of thousands of citizens in the resolution of millions of issues.

“CMHC is a leader in providing expansive, community-based mental health care for people who might not have anywhere else to go for services and supports,” said Berkowitz. “We look forward to helping you achieve your goals in the months and years ahead.”
