04/26/2011: On March 17, 2011, medical students across the country waited anxiously to learn which residency program they had been matched with. It was a particularly good day for Yale’s Department of Psychiatry.

12% of students trained at Yale University School of Medicine (YSM) matched to psychiatry programs, compared with 4.1% of medical students nationally. This significant difference can only be attributed to the engaging education and clinical training that YSM students receive through formative interactions with psychiatry residents and faculty.

Two of those YSM students will continue here at Yale, while the rest will go on to some of the most prestigious programs in the country including UC San Francisco, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Longwood, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
