Department Announces 2012 Match Results

03/26/2012: On Friday, March 16th, medical students from as near as Yale and as far as South Africa learned they had matched to Yale's psychiatry residency program.
Resident Recognized for Commitment to Public Service

02/06/2012: Tichianaa Armah, MD, a fourth-year resident in Yale's Department of Psychiatry will receive the prestigious Vera Paster Award from the American Orthopsychiatric Association. This annual award recognizes an outstanding trainee in a mental health discipline for research and public service that contributes to the empowerment of people of color.

08/30/2011: The Yale Philosophy and Psychiatry Group, founded and led by third-year Yale Psychiatry resident Elliott Martin, MD, kicks-off another academic year of programming. The group provides a monthly forum to discuss the "bigger questions" that arise in understanding the whole of a patient.
Residents Visit Rural Work-Therapy Facility

06/29/2011: Spring Lake Ranch Therapeutic Community in Cuttingsville, Vermont is a licensed residential treatment facility offering a unique locale for people with mental illness, substance abuse issues, or dual diagnosis to work towards wellness. In May, the ranch was the destination for Yale Psychiatry Residents who wished to see this dynamic model of work-centered therapy firsthand.
Faculty, Residents, and Staff Honored at Commencement

06/15/2011: At its annual Resident and Fellow Commencement Ceremony, the Yale School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry announced the recipients of national and departmental awards. The celebration, held the evening of June 10th at Davenport Residential College and with more than 200 in attendance, marked the graduation of 21 residents and 22 fellows.

Residents Pitch a Career in Psychiatry to Local Youth

05/12/2011: The New Haven Health & Science Career Fair had a new participant this year—Yale's Department of Psychiatry. The Department's table, featuring brains, medical equipment, and interactive computer games, was visited by many of the eight hundred students in attendance. Third-year resident Dr. Tichianaa Armah joined the Fair's planning committee earlier this year intent on increasing awareness about mental health in the community and exposing youth to the exciting field of Psychiatry.
