Teaching, Administrative and Research Role
Fellows play a critical role in educating other trainees on the service, including residents from the adult psychiatry program, residents rotating from other departments, fellows from other advanced residencies, medical students and trainees from the Physician Assistant or APRN programs.
Fellows also have an administrative role in the operation of the service, and are encouraged to become involved in hospital policy development and systems improvement. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue research interests during their clinical year of training. The faculty serves as research mentors and assists the fellow in the development of a research project. Opportunity also exists for fellows to participate in ongoing research projects.
Fellows are encouraged to participate in research. Fellows may use elective time to participate in research studies, either by participating in ongoing research or initiating their own projects.
