2013: William E. Bunney, Jr., M.D. and Benjamin S. Bunney, M.D.
William E. Bunney, Jr., M.D. is the Della Martin Chair of Psychiatry and Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at University of California, Irvine. Dr. Bunney is a pioneer in the biological approach to understanding mood disorders. He received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency in psychiatry at Yale. He has served as President of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and Collegium Internationale Neuro- Psychopharmacologicum, and has been elected to the Institute of Medicine.
Benjamin S. Bunney, M.D. is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Yale and served as chairman for two decades (1987-2007). Dr. Bunney is one of the world’s leading experts regarding the brain’s dopamine systems. He received his M.D. and completed a residency in internal medicine at New York University. Dr. Bunney served as a Captain in the Air Force, practicing internal medicine for two years during the Vietnam War before coming to Yale to complete a residency in psychiatry. He has served as President of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and has been elected a member of the Institute of Medicine.
