Thyroid problems are among the most common endocrine problems affecting children. Despite how common pediatric thyroid problems are, few centers in the United States have focused on the treatment of thyroid disorders in children. Today, the Yale Pediatric Thyroid Center (YPTC), consisting of endocrinologists, surgeons, and other individuals involved with thyroid care, can offer boys and girls superb care for common and complex disorders affecting the thyroid gland.
The Yale Pediatric Thyroid Center was the first center in the United States exclusively devoted to the care of children with thyroid conditions and is the only center in the United States to offer our special model of multidisciplinary care. Based in New Haven, Connecticut, the Yale Pediatric Thyroid Center, which opened in 2006, has cared for children from more than 30 states and 10 countries.
