About the image

Examining girl

Dr. Marianthe Grammas examines a patient at the Children’s and Family Health Center, the primary ambulatory teaching site for the Yale Combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program.  Dr. Grammas cares for families with a variety of cultural backgrounds ranging from those that have lived in Connecticut for generations to those who have recently come to the United States as immigrants or refugees.  She conducted this visit with the assistance of a medical interpreter.  The Yale Primary Care Pediatrics Curriculum contains information relevant to the care of diverse patient populations, such as providing culturally sensitive care and the use of medical interpreters.
