Faculty at the Yale Primary Care Center, the primary ambulatory teaching site for the Yale Pediatric Residency Program, developed the Acute Illness Observation Scale to help identify “the sick child.” Using the Yale Primary Care Pediatrics Curriculum as a guide, pediatric trainees at Yale learn about this scale as well as many other topics related to the office evaluation of sick children.
