In 2016, we launched a new curriculum designed to engage our residents in exploring the ways in which our patients’ health is determined by the communities in which they live: their families, neighborhoods and cultures. Each resident has dedicated half-day blocks during outpatient rotations that are set aside for Healthy Lives activities. We offer multiple Healthy Lives tracks from which to choose, and each track has one or more dedicated faculty mentors. Current track options include Medically Complex Care, Injury Prevention, Early Childhood Care and Education, and Global Refugee and Immigrant Health. Healthy Lives experiences allow residents opportunities to learn about and contribute to the missions of other agencies and programs in New Haven designed to meet the needs of children and families.
