Yale Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Program
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder affecting young women.
PCOS is associated with infertility, absent or irregular menstrual cycle, and increased activity of testosterone (male sex hormone). Most women with PCOS also have other hormonal and metabolic problems such as elevated levels of insulin and cholesterol. In the long term, women with this condition are at increased risk for cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.
Our center offers advanced testing techniques and treatments for PCOS. We are also developing new therapies designed to treat symptoms and lessen the disorder’s long-term consequences.
