Yingqun Huang, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree in 1988 from Fudan University School of Medicine and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences 1997 from the University of Connecticut Health Center. During her postdoctoral training she focused on the rules and mechanisms that govern the transport of messenger RNAs from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, a critical step that controls gene expression in mammalian cells. Her current research centers on the mechanistic understanding of the H19 long noncoding RNA in endocrine disorders including type-2 diabetes and infertility, in addition to reproductive tract cancers, with the ultimate goal of discovering new molecular signatures and pathways for preventing and treating these diseases.
