Dr. Nicole Kummer’s desire to help others extends well beyond the patients she sees at Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH). In 2010, she traveled to Haiti to provide Ob/Gyn care to earthquake victims. Dr. Kummer has been recognized in her field for exemplary voluntary service in health and human services and has received several awards for her excellence in teaching medical students and residents.
Dr. Kummer obtained her MD at Chicago Medical School in 2005 before completing an Ob/Gyn residency at YNHH. She then pursued a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Connecticut before joining the Yale faculty in 2012. She is currently an assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine with clinical interests in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), recurrent pregnancy loss and infertility treatment.
Dr. Kummer is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is dedicate to helping women with infertility issues, recurrent pregnancy loss, pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, amenorrhea (the absence of menstruation) and PCOS. She believes patients who come to Yale will benefit from her department’s comprehensive approach, which incorporates reproductive endocrinology into traditional infertility treatment. She often tells patients, “We are here for you every step of the way and will guide you through your treatment with compassion and understanding.”
Dr. Kummer also specializes in gynecology surgical consults and fertility preservation. She has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts related to infertility and controlled ovarian stimulation—an important fertility treatment for women.
