The Section of Maternal-Fetal Medicine provides care for women whose pregnancies require special monitoring or treatment. In addition, we offer a wide range of testing services to screen for fetal abnormalities, as well as fetal therapy for fetuses requiring special care.
Our level of involvement varies from case to case, from intensive oversight to consultative guidance. In many cases, we assist primary obstetricians in managing complicated pregnancies. This approach is called co-management, allowing our patients to benefit from cutting-edge treatment information from our practice while giving them the comfort and convenience of being managed by a primary physician near their home with whom they have a long-standing relationship.

Teaching and Research
We are a section of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Yale School of Medicine. Our physicians are leaders in teaching and research: we have pioneered the development of chorionic villus sampling and fetal blood sampling and have some of the most experienced specialists in fetal echocardiography in the northeastern United States.
