August 11, 2017

William H. Sledge, MD, George D. and Esther S. Gross Professor of Psychiatry, was recently honored at his 50th college reunion at Washington and Lee University by induction into Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the national leadership organization.

ODK was founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, located in Lexington, Va. Induction is based on achievement in areas that include scholarship, athletics, campus and community service, and social and religious activities. It is considered one of the highest honors that can be awarded by a college or university.

Sledge also spoke at a symposium on the Vietnam War where he presented results of his 28-year follow up on the experiences of United States Air Force Prisoners of War.

A version of the work will be published in a future edition of Psychiatry.

Sledge has held many positions in the Yale Department of Psychiatry. He has been Clinical Director of the Connecticut Mental Health Center and Medical Director of Psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was also Master of Calhoun College at Yale College for 10 years until 2005.
