A third-year resident in the Yale Department of Psychiatry and a medical student have received travel awards to attend the annual meeting of the Society of Biological Psychiatry in May.

Youngsun Cho, MD, PhD, a third-year resident, and Genevieve Yang, a Yale MD/PhD student at the beginning of her PhD phase, each received awards of $2,000 to help pay travel expenses to the society’s annual meeting May 12-14, 2016, in Atlanta.

Cho and Yang are members of the Anticevic Lab, which is run by Alan Anticevic, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and of psychology.

Three other affiliates of the Yale Department of Psychiatry received travel awards to attend the annual meeting. They are Gustavo Angarita-Africano, MD; Renato Polimanti, PhD; and Albert Powers, MD, PhD.

The Society of Biological Psychiatry was founded in 1945 to "encourage the study of the biological causes of and treatments for psychiatric disorders. Its continuing purpose is to promote excellence in scientific research and education in fields that investigate the nature, causes, mechanisms, and treatments of disorders of thought, emotion, or behavior," according to its statement of purpose.
