In a study published online in Nature on March 6, 2013 Dr. David Hafler and investigators from around the world showed a possible link between sodium chloride and autoimmune diseases. The study showed that increased salt concentrations found locally under physiological conditions in vivo markedly boost the induction of murine and human TH-17 cells, which have been shown to have a critical role in autoimmune diseases. To discuss these findings Dr. Hafler was invited to the CBS This Morning show on March 7, 2013.
