Dr David Gortler's clinical and basic science research focuses on vascular medicine pharmacology including: vascular inflammation, cholesterol metabolism, lipids, atherosclerosis, atheroprogression, and intimal hyperplasia. Clinically, Dr. Gortler is a pharmacology expert on statins, statin side effects, HDL modulation, rhabdomyolysis, and pharmacology of drugs used to treat obesity. Dr. Gortler is an expert on clinical trial design, the FDA drug evaluation process, the FDA drug approval process, the FDA method of evaluating drug safety, and is an FDA safety/efficacy expert in FDA recalls, the FDA efficacy/safety review process and the FDA drug labeling process.
