Murine Lung - Transplantation with Bone Marrow

Murine Lung from a Female Mouse

The Krause lab studies the ability of marrow derived cells to engraft as epithelial cells. Shown is murine lung from a female mouse several months after transplantation with bone marrow from a male donor mouse. Anti-cytokeratin (yellow) stains the cytoplasm of epithelial cells, Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the Y chromosome (red) identifies marrow derived cells, nuclei stain blue with DAPI. The cell in the center may represent a bone marrow derived epithelial cell in the lung.
