Research
The research curriculum outlined here is abbreviated and evolving. The current research focus of YENL is to identify molecular markers and driver genetic/epigenetic changes in a variety of endocrine tumors including, but not limited to:
- Adrenal Tumors
- Adrenocortical adenoma
- Adrenocortical carcinoma
- Pheochromocytoma
- Endocrine Pancreatic tumors
- Parathyroid tumors
- Thyroid tumors
- Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma
- Follicular thyroid adenoma
- Follicular thyroid carcinoma
- Papillary thyroid carcinoma
- Other endocrine tumors
A key component behind the success of the YENL research efforts is the high volume and the excellent endocrine surgical practice at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. All patients seen at the endocrine surgery clinic will be offered to enroll in studies conducted by the YENL. This involves:
- Careful clinical, pathological and biochemical characterization of the disease,
- Cataloging of patient characteristics for each patient group, and
- Opportunity to enroll in a translational or reverse-translational research study.
