Research

The research curriculum outlined here is abbreviated and evolving. The current research focus of YENL is to identify molecular markers and driver genetic/epigenetic changes in a variety of endocrine tumors including, but not limited to:

  • Adrenal Tumors
    • Adrenocortical adenoma
    • Adrenocortical carcinoma
    • Pheochromocytoma
  • Endocrine Pancreatic tumors
  • Parathyroid tumors
  • Thyroid tumors
    • Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma
    • Follicular thyroid adenoma
    • Follicular thyroid carcinoma
    • Papillary thyroid carcinoma
  • Other endocrine tumors

A key component behind the success of the YENL research efforts is the high volume and the excellent endocrine surgical practice at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. All patients seen at the endocrine surgery clinic will be offered to enroll in studies conducted by the YENL. This involves:

  • Careful clinical, pathological and biochemical characterization of the disease,
  • Cataloging of patient characteristics for each patient group, and
  • Opportunity to enroll in a translational or reverse-translational research study.
