Research & Current Projects

We have examined the feasibility of using both polysomnography and actigraphy for measuring sleep in critically ill patients in our medical ICU.  We are also examining the impact of noise, light and staff interruptions to sleep in our ICU.  We have designed and are currently piloting the impact of a nap time protocol on sleep as measured by both PSG and questionnaire.  We will correlate sleep with patient outcomes such as delirium, length of stay, and mortality in critically ill patients.
