Welcome to the Meyer Lab

The overarching goal of our research is to expand access to neurological care to underserved populations domestically and globally.

Our research focuses on epilepsy treatment and infectious diseases of the nervous system. Our active projects include:

  • evaluating health and economic outcomes of Kenyans with HIV-associated cognitive impairment.
  • a clinical trial of preventive strategies for cryptococcal meningitis
  • identifying environmental sources of Cryptococcus
  • exploring the associations between epilepsy and parasitic diseases in Africa
We also work to improve access to Neurology training for physicians from underserved regions.  Most of our work takes place in Kenya at Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES), a program of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
