Many cortical GABAergic neurons make a high density of local connections - is GABAergic transmission also influenced by somatic membrane potential?

Figure 11. The high density of synaptic connections made by GABAergic neurons in the cortex suggests that their synaptic potentials may be modified by changes in the membrane potential of their cell bodies. Our study has shown that this is true for pyramidal cells (see next slides), and we are currently investigating whether it also happens at GABAergic synapses.
