Jason Berk, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry

PhD Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2012)

BS University of Connecticut (2005)

Jason Berk obtained a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Connecticut and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine. His doctoral training focused on the function of emerin, a human disease associated, inner nuclear membrane protein. Currently, using a structure-function approach he is attempting to elucidate the mechanism/s of substrate recognition by the membrane embedded E3 ubiquitin ligase, Doa10.

Christopher Hickey, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry

Christopher Hickey is a postdoctoral associate in the laboratory of Mark Hochstrasser. He earned a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Dr. Hickey has published extensively on diverse topics within the biological sciences, including metabolism, infectious disease, cellular organization and dynamics, and protein structure and function. His current research focuses on the roles of the ubiquitin and SUMO...

Yanjie Li, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry

Yanjie Li received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Canada. She then joined the Hochstrasser lab for her postdoc training. Her current research focuses on the 20S proteasome assembly process.

Judith Ronau, PhD

Postdoctoral Associate in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry

Judith Ronau obtained her B.S. in Biology from Marquette University and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Purdue University. Her doctoral research explored the central question of substrate and co-factor binding in the metabolic iron metalloenzyme, phenylalanine hydroxylase and led to the first crystal structure of phenylalanine hydroxylase bound to its natural substrate, phenylalanine. Prior to joining the Hochstrasser lab, Dr. Ronau completed a brief postdoc in Chittaranjan Das' lab at Purdue, where she worked with the deubiquitinating enzymes, AMSH and UCH37. Her current research focuses on cellular localization of the 26S proteasome.
