The Elias Laboratory


My laboratory has a longstanding history of cellular, molecular and human investigations into the pathogenesis of the inflammation, injury and repair that are associated with the development and/or progression of asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, COPD/ emphysema, acute lung injury and metastatic and primary lung cancer.

Our NIH sponsored research has resulted in prominent scientific publications in Science, New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Medicine, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, Cell Host and Microbe and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. I was the president of the Association of American Physicians in 2009, am a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and am on the the Council of National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and Council of Councils of the NIH.
