Brief Description of the Service
***Effective June 28, 2013, the Keck Biotechnology Resource Laboratory will discontinue the following services: Amino Acid Analysis, Protein Sequencing (Edman Degradation), Large- and Small-Scale Peptide Synthesis. We are no longer accepting orders or sample submissions.
Crude peptides are delivered as a air-dried powder and include an analytical reverse-phase HPLC profile and a MALDI mass spectrum. Purified peptides will be a minimum of 85% pure based on the accompanying absorbance profile from an analytical reverse-phase HPLC run carried out on an aliquot of the purified pool. Purified peptides also will be accompanied by a mass spectrum obtained on an aliquot of the final purified pool and are delivered as a lyophilized powder. The turn around time generally is 1-2 weeks for crude peptides and 3-4 weeks for purified peptides. There are three synthesis scales to chose from: 25, 50 or 100 µmol. For each of these scales, the peptide can be obtained either in crude or purified form. The range of typical yields for each scale are given in the following table.

In addition to the listed Service Charges, there is a $5/residue surcharge for each residue beyond 25. As described below, the inclusion of some modified amino acids in the peptide will also result in additional charges.
